Monday, 9/15/08

This morning started out a little rough.  I hate waking up to a dirty house and on Sunday's we tend to take the whole "Day of Rest" thing a little too seriously, I think.  So this morning I "had" to clean up the kitchen before we could start school.  This caused the whole schedule thing to be a little off, but the afternoon was much better!!!   

Today we started with math.  We reviewed our number flash cards 0-7 and made sure she could recognize as well as spell them.  Following that we worked on writing the numbers 8 and 9 and then learned how to spell them.  We also discussed Before's and After's.  They both did really well until we did the days of the week.  When Hailey was in preschool she learned a song that teaches the days of the week in order.  So she couldn't quite figure out what day came before.  So we will have to work on that a little more.  

In the afternoon we did our final lesson on the Tongue Cut Sparrow.  We talked about the kind things that the old man and woman treated the sparrow and about the mean things the old neighbor did.  They then drew pictures of kind things and mean things.  I got a little worried about how into Hailey got into drawing the mean things. J/K!  She then drew smile faces on the back of the page.  She told me she didn't like the mean pictures so she wanted to draw smile faces! :) Whew!!!  Then we did a page out of her Primary Analogies book. Today was also their turn to choose a book for me to read to them so they chose the Lion King.  Here are some pics of the day . . .
